The first few weeks of long distance always seem like a breeze. Skype is great! We could totally make it three months! But then week three or four hits and you realize... you are sort of running out of things to do. Really. There is only so much you can do on Skype or the phone. My boyfriend and I are halfway through the three months, and we have learned a thing or two. Here are a list of some activities that he and I thought would be useful for other LDR couples!
Send each other fun emails - Whether it be a romantic and lovely email or a silly story that one of you have made up, this is always a fun idea. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't like this idea.
Watch videos or movies together - The website watch2gether.com is great and wonderful and I 100% recommend it. Here, you can throw in links to Youtube and at the same time watch videos together! It's fun to do this while Skyping at the same time so you two can discuss the videos after. It's also fun if you find (technically illegally uploaded) movies on Youtube. I found The Longest Ride on there the other day and may or may not have forced my boyfriend into watching it with me... But we also watch other things like Buzzfeed or Youtubers we both enjoy!
Ask each other questions from questionnaires off the Internet - This is an especially good idea if you two have not been dating long. Find questions on websites like Pinterest or just by Googling "questions to ask ___" You can also look up would you rather questions or this or that ones or even ask your boyfriend/girlfriend questions about yourself to see if they will get them correct. My boyfriend and I do this one a lot, and it always leads to big conversations. You definitely will get to know each other better. It's especially fun to find those cringe-worthy 2006 Myspace quizzes and do those with each other.
Take quizzes together online - This one is not the most exciting, but if you're like me and love quizzes it's great. My boyfriend and I will go on websites like Buzzfeed and send each other the links to quizzes on Facebook and compare our answers and results. Again, it's not the most thrilling activity on the planet. But when you are across the entire country, there is only so much you can do.
Read the other person a book - Pretty self-explanatory. I have a copy of Yes Please by Amy Poehler that I have been reading on Skype for the last week to my boyfriend. He and I loved Parks and Rec, so he has been enjoying it. If you two share interests, it's a fun idea to just read a book in that genre.
These are all the ideas I have for now! Hope you enjoy these tips and have a nice rest of your day.
